Secure starter culture
Pour approximately 250–500 ml of your grown culture into a clean jar. This will serve as the starter culture for the next batch.
HELP CENTER
From the perfect harvest time to creamy-fresh spirulina: This is how you can harvest safely and without losses.
THE MANUAL
After about 10–14 days, your spirulina is ready for harvest – often a little quicker in summer, a little slower in winter. For maximum yield, wait for a rich dark green color.
Pour approximately 250–500 ml of your grown culture into a clean jar. This will serve as the starter culture for the next batch.
Place the tripod in the sink and securely position the supplied filter on it.
Slowly pour the remaining spirulina culture through the filter. The valuable spirulina mass will remain completely in the filter.
Briefly rinse the filtered spirulina with clear water to remove any residual nutrient salts.
Spoon the fresh spirulina into the supplied spirulina jar and place it directly in the refrigerator.
Clean the grow jar thoroughly with hot water. The jar is dishwasher safe.
Reseed the farm immediately with the saved 250–500 ml culture. This time, use 2.2 L lukewarm water and 45 g nutrient salt.
VIDEO TUTORIAL
Two short videos show you the complete process and the perfect consistency of your fresh spirulina.
CONSISTENCY TIP
After rinsing, don't let the spirulina drain completely. It should remain nicely creamy-moist and not turn into a dry paste.
The creamy consistency can be easily scooped from the filter into the spirulina jar.
Immediately place the finished harvest in a sealed container and refrigerate it.

FURTHER QUESTIONS
Everything you need to know about the shelf life, storage, and a simple freshness test for your home-grown spirulina.
Freshly harvested spirulina lasts about 7 to 8 days in the refrigerator. It's best to store it directly in the provided spirulina jar or another tightly sealed container.
For longer shelf life, you can easily freeze fresh spirulina. You can tell if it's still good by its smell: as soon as it smells unpleasant, you should no longer consume it.
