Answers to freshness, cultivation, safety and your StarterKit.
Yes, plenty of sun is great! How much exactly depends on the current phase of your spirulina:
At the beginning (young culture): If you have just set up the farm and the algae culture is still quite "thin," you should be a little more sparing with very strong sunlight.
Established culture: As soon as you see that your culture has settled in well and has taken on a beautiful, dark green color, then feel free to give it as much sun as possible! Place the farm in a sunny spot (e.g., on a south, east, or west-facing windowsill) and align the solar panel optimally.
In winter or on cloudy days: Don't worry, thanks to the smart lid with integrated grow light, your culture will always be supplied with the perfect light spectrum. This way, the farm works all year round – even in the darkest winter.
No – consciously not, for sustainability reasons. You almost certainly already have a USB-C cable at home, and another one would be unnecessary waste. Any commercially available USB-C cable will fit.

For years, spirulina has been known in scientific circles as the superfood of the future. This is not only due to its simple and fast cultivation, but also to its ingredients: spirulina is one of the most protein-rich organisms, with 60-70% protein. In addition, the algae contains numerous essential fatty acids as well as valuable minerals and vitamins. So, with spirulina, you have a true nutritional powerhouse on a spoon!
Spirulina is a nutrient-rich microalga that grows in freshwater lakes. It contains up to 60% high-quality protein by dry weight and provides essential amino acids, B vitamins, vitamin K, iron, magnesium, calcium, and the characteristic blue pigment phycocyanin. Due to this nutrient density, spirulina is considered one of the most nutrient-rich foods available.
Freshly harvested spirulina will keep in the refrigerator for about 7 to 8 days. It is best to store the harvest directly in the supplied spirulina jar (or alternatively in another tightly sealed container, such as a lunch box).
Tip for longer shelf life: You can also easily freeze fresh spirulina.
The Freshness Test: You can easily tell if it's still good by its smell. Trust your nose – as soon as the spirulina smells unpleasant, you should no longer consume it.
