Our Vision

Algae are the food of the future

What everyone will eat tomorrow is not decided at some point in the future. It is decided daily, at very ordinary kitchen counters. For us, the answer starts with a glass on the windowsill.

The starting point

Why we need a rethink

Cultivation zones are shifting, the world population is growing, and fertile soil is becoming scarcer every year. At the same time, many foods travel thousands of kilometers before someone eats them.

We believe it is necessary to start today, and not only when things get difficult. Food is particularly well suited for this, because it happens every day.

Why Algae

It grows in the water, not in the field

Few food sources are as robust and efficient. Spirulina thrives on light, a few minerals, and little water. No soil, no pesticides, no season.

This allows it to grow precisely where traditional agriculture reaches its limits.

Light instead of surface

Grows in water, independently of the soil.

Circularity instead of Consumption

The water stays in the glass, the harvest is replenished.

Year-round instead of seasonal

No harvest time, no need to check the weather.

Fresh instead of dried

No dryer, no transport, no storage.

Save the future. Eat algae.

Because that's exactly what algae can do.

SAVE THE FUTURE. EAT ALGAE.SAVE THE FUTURE. EAT ALGAE.SAVE THE FUTURE. EAT ALGAE.SAVE THE FUTURE. EAT ALGAE.SAVE THE FUTURE. EAT ALGAE.SAVE THE FUTURE. EAT ALGAE.SAVE THE FUTURE. EAT ALGAE.SAVE THE FUTURE. EAT ALGAE.

How we're approaching it

Decentralized. Simple. For everyone.

Not a huge facility somewhere in the world, but a jar in your kitchen. You see what you eat growing every day.

01

The Start

The Start

Starter culture and nutrient salt go into the grow jar. You place it by the window; nothing else happens on the first day.

02

The Growth Phase

A bright green means the culture is working. This will cost you one to two minutes a day; the light takes care of the rest.

03

The Harvest

If the green is strong, drain it. What remains in the glass will continue to grow for the next harvest.

7+ Days

Until the first harvest, then regularly.

50 g per harvest

From a farm, under good conditions.

1 to 2 Minutes

Effort per day, that's all the farm wants.

0 km

Between harvest and plate lies your kitchen floor.

Fresh instead of dried

What makes MySpirulina different

Harvested alive

Harvested alive

  • Comes from your jar, usually starting on day seven
  • You know every step because you do it yourself
  • Culture and nutrient solution laboratory tested
  • Tastes neutral, without the typical algae note
Bought dried

Bought dried

  • Dried, processed, often stored for months
  • Its origin is rarely transparent on the can
  • A long journey before anyone even eats it
  • The algae tone that many give up on after two weeks

Our Story

It all started with a glass on the windowsill

Two seats next to each other in the advanced biology course – that's where it all began. Years later, Ben lived for a time in Korea, where fresh seaweed is as common on the table as a salad is here. Back in Germany, it was only available dried.

Why doesn't it grow in my kitchen?

The question remained. The first attempts were made in a shared kitchen, a mason jar, an aquarium pump, a desk lamp as the sun. Many evenings turned into a farm.

Verified, not asserted

You know what's in it, because you're watching

Culture and nutrient solution are produced in Germany and go to the lab before they go to you. Everything after that happens before your eyes. And if the culture does go bad, we will personally guide you through the first two harvest cycles.

Our Values

Decentralized. Simple. Dynamic. Connected.

Decentralized

Everyone cultivates their own culture at home, with no supply chain in between.

Simple and playful

Rethinking can be fun. The rest of the day is exhausting enough.

Lively

Freshly harvested instead of dried, as this food is meant to be.

Connected

We bring people and the food of the future together, harvest after harvest.

Our bigger goal

Food where it's most needed

Ultimately, we want to go where nutrition is truly difficult. A lot of heat, a lot of sun, and little water are precisely the conditions the algae thrives in. For agriculture, that's the limit; for them, it's just the beginning.
